Studio
Fourteen people, one big table.
Mira Kaplan started the studio in 2011 in a rented room above a hardware shop in Karaköy. We’re still on the same street, just two floors bigger.
We design homes, small hotels, restaurants and restorations, mostly in Istanbul and along the Aegean coast. We take on eight to ten projects a year so the partners stay involved in every one, from the first site walk to the day the keys change hands.
We like old buildings, local materials, and clients who want to talk about how they live before they talk about how it looks. We build models of everything, visit our sites every week and still draw by hand when it matters.
Our team includes architects, interior designers, a heritage specialist and a site architect who has seen more concrete pours than anyone should.
How we work
Site first
We spend a day on every site before drawing a line: sun, wind, neighbours, trees, sounds.
Fewer, better
Eight to ten projects a year, so a partner leads every one from start to finish.
Built to last
Stone, lime, brick and timber that age well, and details a local builder can make.
