Getting found on Google: the basics

Found

You don’t need an SEO agency to be found by people nearby. Most small businesses get the biggest results from a few basics done well.

1. Claim your Google Business Profile

It’s free, and it’s what appears on Google Maps and in the local results. Add your category, hours, photos, services and a link to your website. Keep it up to date, especially holiday hours.

2. Give every page a clear title and description

The title is the blue link in search results. Put what you do and where: “Family Dentist in Jumeirah · Noor Dental”. The description is the line under it; make it read like an invitation, not a list of keywords.

3. Keep your name, address and phone consistent

Use exactly the same business name, address and phone number on your website, your Business Profile and directories. Consistency helps search engines trust that it’s all the same business.

4. Ask for reviews, and reply to them

Genuine reviews help people choose you and help you appear in local results. Ask happy customers at the right moment, and reply to every review, good or bad, politely.

5. Make it fast and mobile-friendly

Slow pages lose visitors. Use compressed images, avoid heavy effects and check your site on a phone over a mobile connection.

6. Write the pages people search for

If people search “teeth whitening price Dubai”, a page about teeth whitening with a price will do better than a single page that mentions everything. One service, one page.

Be patient, and be wary of promises

Search results take weeks or months to change, and nobody can guarantee a position on Google. Be careful with anyone who does.

Every altoda site comes with the basics: page titles, descriptions, a sitemap and fast, mobile-friendly pages. Business adds an SEO plan with keywords for your pages.
