Getting started

What is altoda?

altoda designs, builds and hosts a website for your business on a monthly subscription. You tell us about your business, we make the site, you approve it, and then you update your text and photos yourself.

How is this different from Wix or Squarespace?

You don’t build anything. You tell us about your business, and we design, build and host your website. You can still update your text and photos yourself. See our comparison with Wix and with Squarespace.

How is it different from hiring an agency?

No meetings, no upfront bill and no waiting weeks. You fill in one brief, your site is ready in 24 hours on Starter or 3 to 5 business days on Business, and you pay monthly with hosting and upkeep included. See altoda vs an agency.

Who is altoda for?

Small businesses and independents: cafés, clinics, studios, coaches, consultants, salons, real estate agents, shops and more. If you want a professional site without building it yourself, it’s for you.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. We handle design, hosting, security and updates. After launch you change text and photos in a simple panel.

What do I need to get started?

A few minutes for the brief. Your logo and photos help, but you can start without them and add them later. You can see every brief question before you sign up.

Can I see my site before I pay?

No. You pay when you sign up, and then you see your site before it goes live. Nothing is published until you approve it, and your plan includes revision rounds: 2 on Starter, 5 on Business.

Can I talk to someone before I sign up?

Yes. Write to [email protected] or use our contact page. A person answers during business hours.

Which countries do you work with?

Businesses anywhere. Our prices are in US dollars, and customers in Turkey see local pricing at checkout.

Is altoda a website builder?

No. A website builder gives you tools to build a site yourself. altoda is a service: we design and build the site for you, host it and keep it running.

The brief

What is the brief?

A short form about your business: what you do, who your customers are, what visitors should do on your site, the style you like, and your logo, photos and contact details.

How long does the brief take?

Most people finish in 10 to 15 minutes. You can save it and come back.

What if I don’t know what to write?

Answer in your own words, the way you would talk to a customer. There are examples under every question, and on Business we write the final copy for you.

Can I send my current website instead?

Yes. Add the link and tell us what to keep. We use it as a starting point.

Can I upload files later?

Yes. If your logo or photos aren’t ready, send the brief without them and add them later. The delivery time starts once we have everything.

What photos should I send?

Your real place, team and work, taken in daylight. See our guide on choosing photos.

Can I share websites I like?

Yes, the brief asks for two or three websites you like and what you like about them.

Who sees my brief?

Only the people and tools we use to build your site. See our privacy policy.

Can I change my brief after sending it?

Yes, before we start building. After that, send your changes during the review rounds.

What languages can the brief be in?

English, Turkish or Arabic.

Design and your brand

Will my site look like a template?

On Starter, we start from proven layouts and adapt them to your brand: your colors, type, photos and words. On Business, the design is fully custom.

Can you use my logo and brand colors?

Yes. Upload your logo and tell us your colors in the brief, and we design around them.

I don’t have a logo. Is that a problem?

No. Your business name can work as a clean text logo. Logo design itself isn’t part of our plans.

Where do the photos come from?

Your own photos work best, because they show your real place, team and work. If you need more, tell us in the brief and we’ll suggest options.

Can I choose the style?

Yes. In the brief you pick a few words for how the site should feel, such as calm, bold or friendly, and add websites you like.

Will my site work on phones?

Yes. Every site is designed for phones, tablets and desktops.

Can you match my existing brand guidelines?

Yes. Upload them with your brief and we follow them.

What fonts do you use?

We choose fonts that suit your brand and are licensed for websites. If you already have brand fonts with a web licence, we can use them.

Is the design accessible?

We design with readable text, good color contrast and clear buttons, and we check that pages work with a keyboard.

Can I see examples first?

Yes. See sample designs for eight kinds of business.

Delivery and revisions

Is it really ready in 24 hours?

Starter sites are ready within 24 hours of receiving your complete brief. Business sites take 3 to 5 business days because the design is fully custom and we write your copy.

When does the 24 hours start?

When we have everything the brief asks for: your information, images and, on Starter, your text. If something is missing, we ask, and the clock starts when it arrives.

Do you deliver on weekends?

Starter delivery times apply every day. Business delivery is counted in business days, Monday to Friday.

What happens after I send my brief?

We design and build your site, then email you a preview link. You review it and ask for changes in your revision rounds. When you approve, we connect your domain and publish.

What counts as a revision round?

One set of changes sent together. Collect everything you want to change into one list, and we handle it in one go.

How many revision rounds do I get?

Two on Starter and five on Business, before launch.

What if I don’t like the first version?

Tell us what to change. Your revision rounds are there for exactly that.

What if I need more changes before launch?

Tell us. If it goes beyond what your plan includes, we quote it first, and nothing starts until you approve the price.

What if you miss the delivery time?

We tell you and give you a new time. Delivery times are targets, and it rarely happens.

When does my site go live?

When you approve it and your domain is connected. We never publish without your approval.

Pricing and plans

How much does it cost?

Starter is $49 a month and Business is $129 a month, excluding tax. Annual billing gets 2 months free.

What is the founding price?

Our first 30 customers pay $29 a month on Starter or $79 on Business, for as long as they stay subscribed. If you cancel and come back later, the regular price applies.

What is the difference between Starter and Business?

Starter: up to 15 pages on proven layouts adapted to your brand, you provide the text, ready in 24 hours. Business: unlimited pages, fully custom design, we write your copy, blog or portfolio, an SEO plan, one design request a year and add-ons. See the full comparison.

Is there a setup fee?

No.

Is there a contract?

No long-term contract. Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime; annual plans run for the year you paid for.

Is there a free trial?

No. You pay when you sign up, and you get revision rounds before your site goes live.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

No. If you buy as a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal; see our refund policy.

Are prices the same in every country?

Prices depend on your billing country. Customers in Turkey see local pricing at checkout.

Can I change plans later?

Yes. Write to [email protected] and we’ll explain what changes and what it costs before anything happens.

Do you offer discounts for agencies?

Yes, for several client sites. See altoda for agencies.

Billing and payments

How do I pay?

By card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through our secure checkout.

When am I charged?

At the start of each billing period: every month on monthly plans, once a year on annual plans.

Do prices include tax?

Prices exclude tax. Businesses see prices without VAT. If you buy as an individual in the EU, UK or Turkey, we show the price with VAT before you pay.

Do I get an invoice?

Yes, for every payment, in your account. Add your company details and tax number to show them on invoices.

What currency do you charge in?

US dollars. Your bank may add a currency conversion fee.

What happens if a payment fails?

We retry and let you know. If it stays unpaid, we may pause your site after a grace period, and we tell you before we do.

Will my price go up?

We may change prices, but we tell you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before it takes effect. Founding prices stay while your subscription stays active.

Do annual plans renew automatically?

Yes, and we remind you before each renewal. For consumers in Turkey, annual plans only renew if you confirm.

Can I get a refund for unused time?

No refunds for the current month or the unused part of an annual term, except where the law gives you a right to one.

How do I update my card?

In your account, under Billing. See how to update your card.

After launch

Can I update the site myself?

Yes. Change your text and photos from your panel, anytime, at no cost.

Do you make content changes for me?

No, text and photo changes are yours to make in the panel. It takes a minute, and you never wait for us.

What counts as a design request?

A new section layout, a different look for a page, or new colors or imagery on your live site. Text and photo changes are not requests; you make those yourself. See how design requests work.

How much do design requests cost?

One a year is included on Business. Otherwise each request is $49. Bigger work, like new pages or features, is quoted first and nothing starts until you approve the price.

How long does a design request take?

We confirm the timing when we receive your request. Most small requests are done within a few business days.

Can I add pages later?

On Starter, up to 15 pages in total. On Business, as many as you need. New page designs are handled as a request or quoted first.

Can I add a blog, a portfolio or a catalogue?

Yes, on Business.

Can I add a booking link?

Yes, on every plan, to the booking tool you already use. Deeper integrations are a Business add-on.

Can I sell products online?

altoda sites are built to present your business and bring you customers. Business includes catalogue pages. If you need a full online shop with checkout, tell us and we’ll tell you honestly whether we’re the right fit.

Where do contact form messages go?

To the email address you choose, and you can also see them in your panel.

Hosting, domains and email

Is hosting included?

Yes, on every plan, together with SSL, backups, security updates and maintenance.

Is a domain included?

No. You keep the domain you own, or register a new one, and we connect it for you. Your domain always stays yours.

I don’t have a domain yet. What should I do?

Register one with a well-known registrar in your own name. See domain names, explained.

How do you connect my domain?

We tell you which records to add at your registrar, or guide you through it. See connecting your domain.

Is my site secure?

Yes. Every site has SSL, security updates and backups, managed by us. See security.

Will my site be fast?

We build light pages that load quickly on phones. For businesses that need extra tuning, Core Web Vitals optimization is available as a Business add-on.

Can you set up business email?

On Business, as an add-on: Google or Outlook setup for $49 once. The email accounts themselves are billed by Google or Microsoft.

Where are sites hosted?

On Cloudflare’s global network, with the providers listed on our sub-processors page. Business customers can choose a server location as an add-on.

Will my site show a “Made with altoda” badge?

Yes, a small badge in the footer, on every plan.

Can I move my site to another host?

Your content is yours and you can export it. The design, code and templates are part of our service and can’t be moved to another host.

Cancellation, content and privacy

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, from your account panel, as easily as you signed up. Your plan runs to the end of the period you’ve paid for. If you only need a break, you can pause a monthly plan for 1 to 3 months instead, once a year.

What happens if I cancel?

When your plan ends, your site goes offline. For 30 days after that you can ask us for an export of your content. Your domain stays yours.

I bought as an individual in the EU or UK. Can I withdraw?

Yes, within 14 days, using the Withdraw from contract page or the button in your account. We refund what you paid minus a proportionate amount for the service already provided.

Who owns the content?

You keep ownership of the content you provide: text, images, logos and trademarks. Text we write for you on Business becomes your content once delivered. The design, templates and platform remain ours and are used as part of the service.

Can I export my content?

Yes, anytime while you’re subscribed and for 30 days after your plan ends.

Can you show my site as an example of your work?

We may, with its name and a screenshot. If you’d rather we didn’t, tell us and we stop.
